Youth Mental Health Project
The Young People’s Academy has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery to run a training and awareness project for Youth Mental Health support. At YPA and across the Trust we believe that the best way to support our pupils and students moving forward is to engage with the local community to raise awareness of mental health problems in youth.
The project will deliver three two day training sessions to staff, parents, transport services and community stakeholders on Mental Health First Aid. On completion of the training, participants will be encouraged to share their knowledge with the community. YPA also hopes to introduce a safe-haven scheme within the local community where vulnerable pupils and local young people can identify places that can offer them advice or support in difficult times.
