The Skills Hub was delighted to welcome Councillor Steve Tuckwell and employers from the business sector and other stakeholders to an inaugural Cultivating Futures Business Breakfast event held at the school on Thursday 1st May.

The aim of the event was to build collaborations and partnerships between the school and local industries and was supported by Cllr Tuckwell who is Cabinet Member for Planning & Economic Growth at Hillingdon. Councillor Tuckwell spoke about the need to create opportunities for young people by building relationships with the businesses in the area and creating economic growth.

Paul Chambers, principal said, “Our students were genuinely excited by the engagement and interest shown by business employers and entrepreneurs. This enthusiasm is incredibly encouraging and motivates us to follow up on these discussions to maintain our momentum.”

The day began with a breakfast and networking event for business partners where Paul Chambers and staff highlighted their ambitions for the curriculum at the Skills Hub. Students spoke about their experiences and how opportunities including work experience had helped to motivate them.

After the breakfast meeting, visitors were taken on a tour around the school by students. They were able to see some current projects including using Virtual Reality headsets in the classrooms and a STEM/motor mechanics project to build and race a kart.

The day continued for students with workshops organised by the industry partners giving students the chance to try different work skills and learn more about opportunities and potential careers.

The Skills Hub was very grateful to those who attended and organised workshops for the students including:
