Pupils’ Big Takeover
Well done to the Year 11 pupils at Nightingale Community Academy who took part in this year’s Big Take Over which puts young people into decision-making challenges and encourages staff at the council to hear their views. The pupils, who took part in the event organised by Wandsworth Council, spent the day working alongside Nick Pendry, Assistant Director of Children’s Services and discussed issues around social care and policing.
Principal Andre Bailey said, “The Big Take Over is critically important that boys, particularly boys in this kind of environment (NCA), get the opportunity to be normal; to do stuff that children in mainstream schools are doing, to do things that provide opportunities for them to see and experience adults in a way they otherwise would not.”
One of the pupils involved it the day said, “I like discussing about how we can help other people’s bad situations.”
