New Head of School, Bedelsford Chaucer Centre announced
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Sadie Cawood, as incoming Head of School, Bedelsford Chaucer Centre. The Bedelsford Chaucer Centre will open as a satellite site to the main school site in Kingston in September 2025. It will initially cater for 40 pupils of primary age with the potential to offer up to 80 children places over a three-year period.
The satellite site will provide places for children who have a range of moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs. This is likely to include Speech, Language and Communication Needs and may also include Autism Spectrum Conditions and other associated areas of need.
On her appointment, Sadie said: “With over 20 years of experience in education, I have dedicated my career to supporting pupils with a diverse range of abilities, particularly in the areas of complex needs and disabilities, autism and social, emotional and mental health. My journey in education began in mainstream teaching, where I honed my ability to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individual pupil needs. This foundation has been invaluable in my subsequent teaching and leadership roles within specialist settings.
As I begin this important role, I look forward to working collaboratively with our dedicated staff team, families, external professionals and the wider Merton and school community to create meaningful support systems that enable our pupils to thrive and achieve their very best success.”
Emmet Murphy, Principal of Bedelsford School, said “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sadie to the role of Head of School at the Bedelsford Chaucer Centre. Sadie is a familiar face to the Bedelsford School community having worked at the school for 6 years but recently taking on additional responsibilities at other schools within the Trust.”
