Job Details

Orchard Hill College (the College) and Orchard Hill College Academy Trust (the Trust) together form Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust (OHC&AT), a family of specialist education providers for pupils and students from nursery to further education. As an outstanding provider and Academy sponsor, Orchard Hill College has a strong track record for making a positive impact within the local communities it serves. The College has 6 centres and the Trust is now home to 14 special schools across London, Surrey and Sussex. As a family of specialist providers with a strong track record, we aim to exciting and relevant educational opportunities tailored to the needs and ambitions of our current and future pupils and students with special education needs or who experience other barriers to learning.

Arbour Vale School is a large special school offering education and therapy to over 300 pupils aged 3-19, who for a variety of reasons require specialist education and provision.  Our aim is to enable every pupil and student to be the best that they can be by providing an inclusive, vibrant school where children enjoy their learning, grow in confidence, make good progress and are happy and safe.

We are seeking an ambitious, and inspirational leader to provide the professional leadership for each Phase/Key Stage Leader to secure high quality teaching and learning and provide a curriculum that secures progress for each learner.

 

Person Specification

You will have an excellent track record of teaching pupils with special needs and who present with a range of challenging behaviour.  You will have proven ability to demonstrate and lead outstanding classroom practice, including innovative curriculum development, successfully implementing school improvement and impactful change.

You will need to be able to:

  • use assessment effectively to inform pupils progress and to analyse data to help the target setting process;
  • evidence successful inter-agency and multi-agency partnership working, including with patents/carers;
  • evidence successful joint strategic leadership as well as experience in developing initiatives and managing substantial operational change;
  • have a full understanding of processes involving children in care, child protection and safeguarding and be committed to working in partnership;
  • be collegiate, responsive, highly approachable and have the ability to inspire colleagues, pupils, students and their families.
