Learning Support Assistant

FTE: £19,755 - £20,472 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, Actual Salary: £16,413 - £17,009
Beaconsfield, New Malden
Full Time, 36 Hours Per Week, Term Time Only

Job Details

You will be required to provide support to the lecturing staff in providing educational activities for adults with special needs and assist with the provision of all educational activities by:-

Facilitating the regular attendance of students, providing each student with the support needed to carry out learning;

Carrying out therapy and health and well-being programmes which support learning as directed by the nurse, therapist and lecturer;

Ensuring that agreed individual programmes of learning for students are implemented;

Working in harmony with all staff to ensure a positive atmosphere within the College is maintained for the benefit of students;

Ensuring that students’ well-being is maintained at all times.

You will also support students in gaining self-confidence and independence through encouragement and reassurance and through the use of teaching and learning strategies, thereby supporting the students in accessing a range of home, community, work related and basic skills learning programmes, under the direction of the lecturer.

Person Specification

You should have experience of working, caring or voluntary work with people who have special needs. Experience of working within a team is also essential. (Please refer to our person specification for further details).

We deliver a range of courses to our students throughout the year and you should be prepared to work at any centre.

Bedelsford School is an outstanding special school which aims to provide innovative education and a challenging environment for pupils aged 2 to 19. The school specialises in educating pupils with a wide range of Physical Disabilities including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Complex Health needs. However, we are a changing population and many of our pupils now have CLDD (complex learning difficulties and disabilities).
