Jack Petchey Foundation CEO visits The Skills Hub

By Fiona Wilkins - June 2nd, 2025 | Posted in Article

The Skills Hub were delighted to welcome Gemma Juma, CEO of the Jack Petchey Foundation, on Friday, 23rd May. Gemma met with staff who support the Jack Petchey Foundation projects at The Skills Hub. The Foundation provides grants and awards to students and adult volunteers in recognition of their achievements. Award winners have the flexibility to decide how to spend their grants within the school.

In the past, grants from the Jack Petchey Foundation have funded significant events, such as last year’s Year 11 trip to Edinburgh.

The recent visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss ways the Jack Petchey Foundation can deepen its collaboration with The Skills Hub, particularly in enhancing curriculum planning for the 2025/26 academic year. Given the increased strategic focus on careers and life skills starting in September, the CEO participated in discussions aimed at strengthening our partnership. This initiative is expected to broaden their engagement and create more pathways for progression.

The Jack Petchey Foundation was established by Sir Jack Petchey to inspire and motivate young people across London and Essex by providing exciting projects and programmes for them to engage with. Sadly, Sir Jack passed away last year at the age of nearly 99, but the Foundation continues its mission to support young people and schools.

In addition to grants that fund many educational experiences at The Skills Hub, students have participated in Table Tennis competitions and Business Enterprise activities.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support and commitment from the Jack Petchey Foundation.
