Diploma in Education and Training trainees showcase their learning
Trainee lecturers from OHC&AT were among presenters showcasing their research at Canterbury Christ Church University’s “Student and Staff Research Conference: High Expectations for All” on Saturday 29th June 2024.
The day opened with a keynote from Dr Azumah Dennis (Open University) on decolonising teacher education, and delegates were treated to sessions ranging from the use of technology in ESOL provision to motivating 16-18 year olds to learn mathematics. We are very proud to see our staff representing specialist teaching and sharing their expertise with colleagues from across the sector.
The trainees, who are on course to complete their Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training (DET) qualification with Orchard Hill College this summer, had the opportunity to join peers in Canterbury for a packed day of discussion, knowledge exchange and networking.
OHC has delivered the DET in partnership with CCCU since 2016, training over 180 staff from settings including mainstream and specialist FE providers, alternative provisions, youth offender institutes and sixth form colleges to become SEND-specialist lecturers.
From September 2024, the course is relaunching as the CertEd Further Education & Skills; if you would like to know more about studying to become an FE teacher with Orchard Hill College, please visit our course page.
