By Fiona Wilkins - March 6th, 2024 | Posted in Article

Arbour Vale School (AVS) is undertaking a consultation to request a change to the funding agreement arrangements that it holds with the Department for Education (DfE). The school is consulting on the proposal to accommodate additional pupils on the current school site and increase the number of the school’s planed places from 335 to 375 from September 2024.

The consultation to the proposal will run from Wednesday 6th March to Wednesday 17th April 2024. Families, staff and all stakeholders are being encouraged to give their feedback and complete the survey using the link below:

AVS Consultation Survey

There will be Public Meetings at the school on Wednesday 20th March from 10-11am and from 1.15-2.15pm. These drop in sessions will provide an opportunity to ask questions about the proposals and leave any feedback.

A virtual public meeting will also be held at 4pm on 20th  March. Please confirm in writing to office@arbourvaleschool.org if you wish to attend.

This information has been sent to parents, carers, staff, governors and other stakeholders with a link to the online survey and a paper version of the survey. Comments can also be emailed to office@arbourvaleschool.org

The consultation will close on Wednesday 17th April and all responses whether electronic or paper should be returned to the school by this date.

Background

Arbour Vale School is a special co-ed school that provides for pupils from the ages of 2 to 19 with a range of special educational needs and is part of Orchard Hill College Academy Trust, a specialist multi academy trust. The Trust and the School work closely with Slough Council to ensure that our school meets local requirements.

Slough Council have identified the need for additional school places and we are pleased to be able to work with the Council on this proposed development. If the proposal is agreed, Slough Council would undertake and fund a new building on the existing school site to accommodate additional pupils from September 2024. The proposed expansion would provide a further 40 places above the school’s current Funding Agreement of 335 places bringing the total school capacity to 375 places from September 2024.

As Arbour Vale School is an academy, this expansion proposal would need to be approved by the Department for Education (DfE) and we are therefore seeking the views of interested parties through this consultation to inform the DfE’s decision-making process to amend the School’s Funding Agreement.
