Case Study in Ed Exec Magazine about our latest satellite site
Leigh Edser, Principal of Dysart School, has written an article in Ed Exec Magazine with Anna Steels, the executive head at Latchmere Academy Trust, about the strategic benefits of co-locating a SEND provision on a mainstream site.
Drawing on their experience of opening Dysart Discovery House on the Latchmere School, mainstream primary site, it is a prime example of how co-location can be advantageous to both schools.
Dysart Discovery House, opened in September and provides 25 places to primary-aged pupils. The new site offers three spacious classrooms, a dedicated occupational therapy and movement room, offices for staff, a family room and outdoor space.
With rising demand for SEND provision and under-utilised spaces in mainstream school, co-location is proving to be a strategic solution. Dysart School and Latchmere School demonstrate how collaboration maximises resources, enriches learning, and strengthens communities:
- Optimise space and reduce operational costs
- Enhance staff training, career development and knowledge-sharing
- Foster inclusive communities and improve outcomes for all learners.
