Carew Host and Chair First Mental Health Cluster Meeting for Sutton
Carew Academy were proud to host the first mental health cluster meeting for Sutton schools this month and will continue to chair these meetings throughout this academic year.
Schools from across the local authority come together to meet with lead professionals from the NHS mental health team led by Dr Ellen Westwood.
Mental Health leads from all the schools, both primary and secondary meet half termly to share best practice and receive information about important resources provided to schools and families via the NHS team.
For example, a number of Parent Webinar’s across the year will be taking place and these will be circulated to parents and carers through Arbor and put on their website. The first of which is ‘Parenting a primary age child with Autism’ taking place on 7 October.
Chairing and hosting these meetings keeps Carew at the forefront of best mental health practice and generates a significant funding stream which is ring fenced for supporting the mental health of our Carew students and staff. To date they have 5 staff who have had the mental health first aider training through the scheme.
