Brantridge School receives Local School Nature grant
Brantridge School were delighted to receive the news that we have been awarded a Local School Nature Grant. The grant includes training for staff, an audit of our current outdoor teaching spaces plus £500 to spend on resources.
The funding is provided by the Postcode Society Trust on behalf of People’s Postcode Lottery. Donna, the Outdoor Learning Lead, was really pleased to learn that the application she made for the funding was successful and she wasted no time getting in an order for new equipment which includes:
- Wildlife cameras for outdoor learning
- Bird feeding stations
- Bird next box
- Bird bath
- Robin nester
- Bird food
- Bird identification chart
- Hedgehog home & snack bowl
- Insect and bee home
- Wildflower seeds for classes
In addition to the equipment grant we will also benefit from:
- 1 year’s membership to Learning through Landscapes. This gives access to exclusive discounts, offers and outdoor learning resources
- 3 webinars on a variety of topics
- A plaque from the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for reception
- An additional Climate Curriculum Pack
- Two hours of in person training for staff and an audit of how we use the existing space to teach the curriculum outdoors.
Pupils were excited to unpack all the new equipment and help build it and get it set up in the garden and outdoor learning spaces. They are also hoping to get involved in the onsite audit with an expert who can advise how they can improve the school grounds, particularly from a climate perspective.
