Baroness Barran visits Addington Valley Academy

Addington Valley Academy (AVA) were delighted to welcome Baroness Barran, Minister for the School System this morning and showcase their new purpose designed school building. Students were very excited to meet the Minister and present her with handmade cards.

Principal, John Reilly met with the Minister to share AVA’s vision and values, specialist teaching and bespoke curriculum and OHC&AT CEO, John Prior joined them discuss the Trust’s key strategic priorities. Seeing the school in action and the students thriving in their new learning environment was at the heart of the Ministers visit.

The Minister enjoyed seeing students learning and playing in their beautiful and engaging sensory garden, there was also an opportunity to see Mabel, the school therapy dog and her owner Lisa who assist some of the students with their reading. The Minister was impressed with the nurturing relationship between students and staff and the wide range of support available to the students.

As a community of learners, families and colleagues OHC&AT believes that by working collaboratively, with energy and ambition we can always effect positive change. No limit is placed on what is possible and everyone has the ability to be the very best they can be.
