Apprentices making an Impact
Danny started his Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, at Park View Centre at Orchard Hill College, in September 2022.
Danny was a former pupil at the Young Person’s Academy and went on to study Employment courses at Orchard Hill College. Whilst volunteering at the College, Danny saw a Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship vacancy on the College website; applied and was successful at the interview.
Danny is having an excellent impact on students’ wellbeing and his apprenticeship is helping him to grow in confidence and improve how he meets students’ needs. He is a tremendous asset to the students and staff at Orchard Hill College. He is keen to further develop his career, learn new strategies and achieve his Functional Skills qualifications.
Sue Jenkins, Head of College at Park View Centre, describes Danny’s progress, “Danny has shown excellent development in his assessment skills. He is confidently using relevant communication aids and growing more reflective in areas such as matching processing time according to his students’ needs.”
Jade Nairne , Danny’s mentor at Park View Centre, says he is developing his knowledge and skills: “Danny has developed his ability to dynamically risk assess complex situations and develop his knowledge and skills in Positive Behaviour Strategies (PBS).”
